A three star hotel on Kandara Road in Kileleshwa, on a ridge of new concrete built for the car and the conference room. This is Greater Nairobi, not the centre, so the one thing that decides it is whether you have a vehicle or a driver. With one, it is calm and easy. Without, it sits badly.
01What it is
Sochati Casa Resort lists the full machinery of a working hotel: 24 hour front desk, 24 hour security, express check in, concierge, luggage storage, laundry, housekeeping, free wifi and free car parking with a garage. It feeds people too, with a restaurant, a bar, breakfast, breakfast in room, lunch, buffet, coffee, room service and special diets on the sheet. Rooms are non smoking, and the list runs to desk, TV, telephone, safe, shower, WC, towels, toiletries, slippers, iron and board, cot, bathroom. There is a garden, a playground, a banquet room, a business center for copy and internet work, car rental, a shuttle service, first aid, a smoking area and wheelchair access. Where it thins out is anything that is not a room or a meeting: no fitness room, no pool, no spa, and pets are allowed.
For a guest, Sochati Casa Resort is a place to work, sleep and eat, with the car parked inside and the gate watched. Days here run around the conference room and the restaurant rather than around the city. Kileleshwa sits 4.05 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 51 minutes on foot in a direct line, so you are not walking into the centre for dinner. It suits drivers, people attending a function on site, families who want the playground and the garden, and anyone with business on this ridge. It does not suit anyone set on stepping out of a lobby into the middle of Nairobi. After dark it is safe and dull: hotel bars, and a ride anywhere else.

04Standing outside the ten quarters
These hotels are not in Upper Hill and Community, and they are not in any of the ten quarters of the centre this site covers. They sit well outside the centre, in the inner suburbs, and Upper Hill and Community is only the nearest of the ten quarters. That matters more than it sounds: you are staying in the wider city, and anything in the CBD means travelling in and out for it. The ridge itself is new concrete built for the car and the conference room, and most of the CBD's office space has been moving up there since the 2000s, which is why you find the tallest towers in the country, the big hospitals, the aid agencies and an expressway ramp to the airport on it. The quarter sits 1.9 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 24 minutes on foot in a direct line.
Upper Hill and Community is best for meetings, a quiet night close in, and a fast run to the airport. After dark it is safe and dull: hotel bars, and a ride anywhere else. If you want the centre on foot, this is not the right base.

Book Sochati Casa Resort when your plans keep you on the Kileleshwa ridge and you would rather drive than walk, since the site's booking route is the practical one here. Most rooms here can be cancelled free, and you book them through app.impt.io. Every confirmed booking removes one tonne of CO2, at no extra cost to you. Five percent of what you pay comes back as IMPT credit, out of the hotel commission rather than added to your bill.
Facts on this page come from the booking supplier's record: star class, address, photographs and facility list. Guest scores come from verified stays. Nobody from this site has stayed here; the quarter copy around it is this site's own.
06Questions
Where exactly is Sochati Casa Resort?+
On Kandara Road in Kileleshwa, in Greater Nairobi. It sits 4.05 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 51 minutes on foot in a direct line, and 3.4 km from Upper Hill and Community, which is the nearest of the ten quarters this site covers. Plan around the road, not the pavement.
What does the hotel actually have on site?+
A restaurant, bar, breakfast and breakfast in room, lunch, buffet, room service, special diets, coffee, a garden, a playground, a banquet room, a business center, free parking and a garage, free wifi, a 24 hour front desk, laundry, luggage storage, car rental and a shuttle service. Rooms carry the usual desk, safe, TV, shower, towels and toiletries.
Can I walk from Sochati Casa Resort into central Nairobi?+
It is a long way on foot and this is car country: new concrete on a ridge, built for the car and the conference room. Use the shuttle service, a car rental or the hotel's own transport for the centre. After dark it is safe and dull, with hotel bars and a ride anywhere else.
What does the guest score of 4.2 out of 5 from 232 reviews tell me?+
It is a solid three star score from a good number of reviews, which suggests the basics, the rooms, the food and the security, hold up in practice. It is not a luxury rating and not a central location. Read it as dependable rather than exceptional, and judge it against what you need.
