Takdiri Homes is a serviced apartment block in Kileleshwa, west of the centre, with a pool, a garden and full kitchens. It suits families and longer stays, and anyone who wants a base away from the CBD. It does not suit you if you want to step out of the door into the centre.
01What it is
Takdiri Homes is a 4 star apartment property on Mandera Road in Kileleshwa, in Greater Nairobi. The list is built around self catering: kitchen, kitchenette, oven, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, washing machine, iron and board, coffee. There is a garden, a terrace, a patio, a balcony and an outdoor pool, plus a playground and high chairs for children, and babysitting and a cot on request. Practical items are covered: free wifi, free car parking, 24 hour security, housekeeping, laundry, luggage storage, non smoking rooms, a safe, smoke detector and wheelchair access. Where the list is thin is the everyday hotel side: no restaurant, no bar and no room service are named, and no fitness room.
What that adds up to is a self contained flat rather than a hotel stay. At Takdiri Homes you shop and cook, or you drive out for meals, because nothing on the list feeds you on site. The pool, garden and playground make it workable for children, and the kitchen and washing machine make it workable for a week or more. The trade is location. This is Greater Nairobi, not the centre: 3.81 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 48 minutes on foot in a direct line. It suits families, groups and longer stays with a car. It does not suit anyone who wants the office district at the door, or a walkable night out.

04Standing outside the ten quarters
Before you book, be clear about where these hotels are. They sit well outside the centre, in the inner suburbs, and they are not in any of the ten quarters this site covers. Biashara Street and City Market is only the nearest of those quarters, which is not the same as being in it. You are in the wider city here, and every trip into the Central Business District is a journey in and out.
The market quarter itself is narrow, shaded, and the only part of the centre where the shops are still one-family wide. The oldest retail streets in the city: Biashara for cloth and haberdashery, Muindi Mbingu for flowers, and the 1930s City Market hall behind them for produce, curios and a fish counter. Jamia Mosque's three silver domes close the block. It is best for kikoi and kitenge cloth, curios without the tour-bus markup, and an hour of architecture. After dark it is a daytime quarter: the halls shut in the late afternoon and the streets empty with them. It lies 0.63 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 8 minutes on foot in a direct line.

Book directly if you want a serviced apartment with a kitchen and a pool rather than a hotel room, and check the cancellation terms when you reserve. Most rooms here can be cancelled free, and you book them through app.impt.io. Every confirmed booking removes one tonne of CO2, at no extra cost to you. Five percent of what you pay comes back as IMPT credit, out of the hotel commission rather than added to your bill.
Facts on this page come from the booking supplier's record: star class, address, photographs and facility list. Guest scores come from verified stays. Nobody from this site has stayed here; the quarter copy around it is this site's own.

How do I get into the centre from here?+
It is 3.81 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 48 minutes on foot in a direct line. That direct line is generous in practice, so plan on a car or a ride rather than a walk, especially coming back. The quarter you are heading into is a daytime quarter.
How do I check availability for Takdiri Homes?+
Use app.impt.io, where you can see what is open for your dates and book it. Most rooms there can be cancelled free, so you can hold a booking while you sort out flights and a car. Book early if you need an apartment with a cot or high chair, as those are limited.
