A five star bed and breakfast on a ridge in Greater Nairobi, built for families and drivers. Whether it is right for you comes down to one thing: how much you need the centre. If you came for the CBD, this sits well outside it.
01What it is
Edaala Comfort B&B lists the full range you would expect from a five star house: family rooms and a cot, a bath with a bidet, shower, hairdryer, toiletries and slippers, a desk, an iron and board, a safe and a refrigerator. Breakfast is served and special diets are noted, there is a lounge, a garden, a picnic area and a playground, plus a fitness centre, free wifi and free car parking. The list is thin on anything evening-facing: a fireplace, a TV, a smoking area and a wake-up service are as far as it goes.
Taken together, Edaala Comfort B&B is a house for people arriving by car, working nearby or breaking a journey, not for anyone whose day is built around the CBD. It sits on a ridge where the surroundings are new concrete, put up for the car and the conference room, and the nights are quiet to the point of dullness: hotel bars, and a ride anywhere else. Come as a family or a pair with your own transport and it works. Come to walk the centre and it does not.

04Standing outside the ten quarters
These hotels are not in Upper Hill and Community, and they are not in any of the ten quarters of the centre this site covers. They sit a long way out, in the wider city, and Upper Hill and Community is only the nearest of the ten quarters to them, which is not the same as being in it. Treat the quarter as a reference point, not an address. Anything you want in the CBD means travelling in and out.
The quarter itself is the western ridge above the centre: new concrete on a ridge, built for the car and the conference room. It is not the CBD proper but the ridge immediately above it, and the place most of the CBD's office space has been moving to since the 2000s: the tallest towers in the country, the big hospitals, the aid agencies, and an expressway ramp to the airport. It is best for meetings, a quiet night close in, and a fast run to the airport, and after dark it is safe and dull: hotel bars, and a ride anywhere else. The quarter lies 1.9 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 24 minutes on foot in a direct line.

Booking Edaala Comfort B&B is a matter of confirming family rooms, a cot or special diets ahead, because the property is small and the list is specific. Most rooms here can be cancelled free, and you book them through app.impt.io. Every confirmed booking removes one tonne of CO2, at no extra cost to you. Five percent of what you pay comes back as IMPT credit, out of the hotel commission rather than added to your bill.
Facts on this page come from the booking supplier's record: star class, address, photographs and facility list. Guest scores come from verified stays. Nobody from this site has stayed here; the quarter copy around it is this site's own.
06Questions
Where is Edaala Comfort B&B?+
It is at 411 Ndovu Cresent in Greater Nairobi, on a ridge of new concrete built for the car and the conference room. It is 12.08 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 151 minutes on foot in a direct line, so it is not a base for walking the centre.
What does the property actually list?+
Family rooms, a cot, a bath with bidet, shower, hairdryer, toiletries and slippers, a desk, iron and board, safe and refrigerator, breakfast, special diets, a lounge, garden, picnic area and playground, a fitness centre, free wifi and free car parking. Evenings are covered only by a fireplace, a TV, a smoking area and a wake-up service.
How do you get into the centre from here?+
You go by car or by taxi; the site's own line for the area is safe and dull, hotel bars, and a ride anywhere else. It is 10.19 km from Upper Hill and Community, which is the nearest of the ten quarters this site covers. Nothing in walking range is worth building a day around.
Who is this place wrong for?+
Anyone who wants the Central Business District on foot, or an evening that offers more than a hotel bar. It suits families and guests with their own transport who want space, parking and quiet rather than a central address.
