De Gold Nest Crib is a self-contained apartment address in Westlands, west of the Nairobi Central Business District, with a kitchen or kitchenette, a washing machine and free parking. The deciding thing is that you are running your own household on Maua Close, not checking into a serviced hotel, so bring the patience for a residential block.
01What it is
De Gold Nest Crib is listed as a four star apartment property on Maua Close in Westlands, Azania Homes E02, and the facilities are built around a self-contained stay rather than hotel service. Each unit comes with a kitchen, kitchenette, oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee making, crockery and a washing machine, so you can cook and do laundry exactly as you would at home. Bedrooms have sheets, towels, slippers and a hairdryer. There is a safe, an iron and board, free wifi, internet access, a fan, a TV, bath and shower, WC, and a terrace. Car parking is free, there is 24 hour security and a laundry service. Bars are listed on site. The list is thin on the things a hotel normally supplies: no restaurant, no gym, no pool, no airport transfer and no business centre.
For the money, De Gold Nest Crib is a working apartment rather than a place with a front desk that solves things. It suits people in Nairobi for a stretch of weeks who want to cook, wash clothes and park a car without paying hotel prices for each of those. It suits a family or two colleagues sharing, because the kitchen and laundry spread across more than one person. It does not suit a short leisure stay built around room service, a restaurant downstairs, or a lobby to sit in. It also does not suit anyone who wants the Central Business District on the doorstep: this is a Westlands address, and the centre is a separate trip.

04Standing outside the ten quarters
These hotels sit outside the ten quarters of the centre this site covers. Biashara Street and City Market is only the nearest of the ten, and it is where you would be heading, not where you are sleeping. Take that as the shape of your stay: you are in the wider city, just outside the ten quarters, on the edge of the centre, and anything in the CBD means travelling in and out rather than stepping out of a lobby.
The quarter itself is the market one, 0.63 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 8 minutes on foot in a direct line. The oldest retail streets in the city: Biashara for cloth and haberdashery, Muindi Mbingu for flowers, and the 1930s City Market hall behind them for produce, curios and a fish counter. Jamia Mosque's three silver domes close the block. The streets are narrow, shaded, and the only part of the centre where the shops are still one-family wide. It suits kikoi and kitenge cloth, curios without the tour-bus markup, and an hour of architecture. It is a daytime quarter: the halls shut in the late afternoon and the streets empty with them, so plan the return before that.

Book De Gold Nest Crib on this site, and check the calendar against the length of your stay before you commit, because an apartment that works for a fortnight is different from one that works for two nights. Most rooms here can be cancelled free, and you book them through app.impt.io. Every confirmed booking removes one tonne of CO2, at no extra cost to you. Five percent of what you pay comes back as IMPT credit, out of the hotel commission rather than added to your bill.
Facts on this page come from the booking supplier's record: star class, address, photographs and facility list. Guest scores come from verified stays. Nobody from this site has stayed here; the quarter copy around it is this site's own.
06Questions
Where exactly is De Gold Nest Crib?+
It is on Maua Close in Westlands, Azania Homes E02, within Greater Nairobi and west of the Central Business District. The centre is 3.18 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 40 minutes on foot in a direct line, and Biashara Street and City Market is 2.68 km from Biashara Street and City Market, the nearest of the ten quarters this site covers. You will need a vehicle or a ride for most city errands.
What does De Gold Nest Crib list in the rooms?+
Kitchen, kitchenette, oven, microwave, refrigerator and coffee making, plus a washing machine, iron and board, and a laundry service. Bedrooms have sheets, towels, slippers, a hairdryer, a safe, a fan and a TV. There is a bath, shower, WC, free wifi and a terrace. Car parking is free and security runs 24 hours. Bars are listed on site. There is no restaurant, pool or gym.
What is getting into the centre from Greater Nairobi like?+
You are staying in Westlands, not in the CBD, so treat the centre as a trip rather than a walk. The area around Maua Close is residential and quieter than the central streets, which is its own advantage for parking and for sleeping. Plan your days around the Westlands side, or arrange transport each time you need Kenyatta Avenue, Biashara Street or City Market.
How do I check availability for De Gold Nest Crib?+
Use the booking link on this page, which goes through app.impt.io, and enter your dates to see which apartments are open. The property is an apartment block rather than a hotel with a large standing inventory, so longer stays and weekends can fill earlier than the midweek. If your dates are fixed, book as soon as you know them.
