A four star property at Gatundu Heights in Greater Nairobi, built for the car and the conference room. The kitchen is what decides it: if you want to cook for yourself, this works; if you came for the centre on foot, it does not.
01What it is
Abileng CozyStay is a four star property on Gatundu Heights in Greater Nairobi, and the facility list is long and mostly practical. Each unit comes with a kitchen, a microwave, a refrigerator, a toaster, a washing machine and an iron and board, so a stay can run without restaurant meals. The bathroom has a shower, a WC, towels, sheets, toiletries and slippers. There is a fitness centre, a playground, a babysitting service, laundry and cleaning, a lift, free car parking, a safe, a smoke detector, non smoking rooms, a smoking area and first aid. Breakfast, bars and a shuttle service are listed, and so are car rental and 24 hour security with security features. The list is thin on the reasons people usually pick a city hotel: no pool, no spa, no business centre, no airport transfer detail, and no guest score on file.
What that adds up to is a self-contained residential address rather than a hotel you step out of into a city. Abileng CozyStay suits a family or a small group with a car, or anyone in Nairobi for a conference or a longer stay who wants a kitchen, parking and a lift, and who is content to eat in or take a car out. It does not suit a visitor who wants to walk to museums, offices or restaurants, because the surrounding streets are new concrete on a ridge, built for the car and the conference room, and after dark it is safe and dull: hotel bars, and a ride anywhere else. The centre is 4.56 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 57 minutes on foot in a direct line, so plan on driving rather than strolling.

04Standing outside the ten quarters
These hotels are not in Upper Hill and Community, and they are not in any of the ten quarters of the centre this site covers. They sit well outside the centre, in the inner suburbs, and Upper Hill and Community is only the nearest of the ten quarters. That matters more than it sounds: you are staying in the wider city, and anything in the CBD means travelling in and out for it. The ridge itself is new concrete built for the car and the conference room, and most of the CBD's office space has been moving up there since the 2000s, which is why you find the tallest towers in the country, the big hospitals, the aid agencies and an expressway ramp to the airport on it. The quarter sits 1.9 km from Kenyatta Avenue at Moi Avenue, which is 24 minutes on foot in a direct line.
Upper Hill and Community is best for meetings, a quiet night close in, and a fast run to the airport. After dark it is safe and dull: hotel bars, and a ride anywhere else. If you want the centre on foot, this is not the right base.

Book Abileng CozyStay if you want a kitchen and a parking space more than you want a lobby. Most rooms here can be cancelled free, and you book them through app.impt.io. Every confirmed booking removes one tonne of CO2, at no extra cost to you. Five percent of what you pay comes back as IMPT credit, out of the hotel commission rather than added to your bill.
Facts on this page come from the booking supplier's record: star class, address, photographs and facility list. Guest scores come from verified stays. Nobody from this site has stayed here; the quarter copy around it is this site's own.
06Questions
Where exactly is Abileng CozyStay?+
It is on Gatundu Heights in Greater Nairobi, in the part of the city this site calls Greater Nairobi rather than the centre. It sits 3.63 km from Upper Hill and Community, which is the nearest of the ten quarters this site covers, so your frame of reference is the ridge and its conference hotels rather than the CBD.
What is in the rooms?+
The listed rooms have a kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator and toaster, plus a washing machine, iron and board, a bathroom with shower, WC, towels, sheets, toiletries and slippers, and a TV. A safe, a smoke detector and non smoking rooms are also listed. Treat the kitchen as the main feature.
Do I need a car to stay here?+
You will want one. The property lists free car parking, car rental and a shuttle service, and the area is built for the car and the conference room. After dark it is safe and dull, with hotel bars, and a ride anywhere else. Walking to the centre is not a practical plan.
How do I check availability?+
Availability is checked through the booking link on this page. Enter your dates and the number of people, and the site shows what the property has. If the dates you want are not open, try shifting them by a day, since this is a single property rather than a chain.
