4- and 5-star hotels in Kisumu
A shortlist of 4- and 5-star hotels in Kisumu, Kenya's third-largest city on the Winam Gulf of Lake Victoria. It is for travellers who want a higher-class stay on the lake-shore city, whether for a couple's break, a family trip or a work visit.
Staying in Kisumu
Kisumu sits on the Winam Gulf of Lake Victoria and is the county seat of Kisumu County. Visitors come for its position on the lake and for the places along the shore: Dunga Beach and the Kisumu Impala Sanctuary are both on the lake shore in the city. The city is Kenya's third-largest, about 265 km northwest of Nairobi in a straight line, and it is reached by road from Nairobi or by air through Kisumu International Airport.
The hotels on this shortlist are spread across the city's addresses rather than in one quarter. Acacia Premier Hotel stands on Achieng' Oneko Rd, Grand Royal Swiss Hotel on Vihiga Road, and Turaco Intercounty Resort and Hilda Blooms on Kisumu Kakamega Road, while Ciala Resort and Jaaja's The Residence sit at Daraja Mbili. Ciala Resort and Acacia Premier Hotel carry the strongest guest ratings. The range of addresses suits couples and families who want the lake shore within reach, and business travellers who prefer a city-side base.
